Nick Crain

Deputy Director, Business Operations & Finance

Nick Crain is the Deputy Director over the Department's operations and finances, overseeing administrative staff, training, internal processes, SB-1383 implementation, budget formulation, and the fiscal team. His staff includes our Fiscal Manager, our two Administrative Service Officers, our Supervising Accountant, one Program Chief, and one Supervising EHS. After working in the private sector, Nick started in the Hazardous Materials Management Branch in 2007 where he's worked until his current role.

Nick grew up in the Inland Empire, graduating from Yucaipa High School, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Toxicology from University of California, Riverside. In his leisure time, Nick spends time with his family, works on his hobby farm, and enjoys the outdoors.
