You may have heard that Proposition 31 passed. This means Senate Bill 793 will take effect on December 21, 2022 which prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products or tobacco product flavor enhancers.  Please note, the Department of Environmental Health will not be the enforcement agency until Ordinance 838 is updated.

The permitting process serves a two-fold purpose:

  1. Increase compliance with county/city, state, and federal tobacco laws including prohibiting tobacco sales to minors, self service tobacco, selling single cigarettes, and more.
  2. Enforce compliance through permit revocation and fines.
