Heavy Rains and Flooding - Be Aware and Wise

Heavy Rains and Flooding - Be Aware and Wise

When it rains, flood channels and rivers can quickly fill with water, reaching speeds of 45 MPH.  This can create life-threatening dangers to anyone who gets trapped.

Stay away when there is heavy rain runoff, including non-rain days between storms.  If you see someone playing near or fall into a flood channel, do not go into the water after the victim.  Dial 9-1-1 immediately.

Additionally, flooded roadways and waterways can be dangerous. If you see a flooded roadway ahead, turn around and find another route to get to your destination. Be cautious, especially at night, when the visibility is limited.
