Environmental Health Day is an occasion to recognize the contributions of public environmental health professionals, who work closely with health care providers, state and local leaders and businesses to identify, monitor and address environmental risk factors impacting our air, food, water and other necessities.
This year’s theme – Environmental Health: A Key Public Health Intervention in Disease Pandemic Prevention – underscores the critical role these professionals have on the front lines of the COVID19 pandemic, helping to implement disease preventive measures in a variety of settings. These men and women and other health professionals deserve our utmost respect and gratitude for their heroic work leading the fight against this virus.
California joins communities around the world today in thanking public environmental health professionals for the vital work they do to safeguard public health, safety and the environment.
